Child, Home and Community, a United Way nonprofit agency, celebrated its 30th year of serving young parents and their children at a brunch event March 7, at Chefs on the Run in Chalfont.
CHC was founded in 1980 when Doris Price, a school nurse, and Kathy Dwyer, a teacher, witnessed the need for an early intervention program designed specifically for adolescents facing unplanned pregnancy and parenting.
With the support of the Bucks County March of Dimes, two pilot programs were established. One year later, after the effectiveness of
CHC’s programs, Bucks County Children and Youth Social Services Agency provided funds to expand programs.
Today, CHC has grown considerably and now provides prenatal, parenting, life-skills and prevention education to youth residing in Bucks and Montgomery counties. Programs are offered at 10 local hospitals and in 13 area school districts to provide education, support and advocacy. |

The event was planned by a committee of dedicated volunteers that worked in the community collaborating with many local businesses for support and fundraising items.
Founders Doris Price and Kathy Dwyer along with Executive Director Beth Styer were honored for their longtime commitment to the agency and its mission.
Child, Home & Community’s mission is to build a better future for children by empowering young parents through education, advocacy and collaboration. CHC’s goal is to foster the birth of healthy babies, en- courage self-sufficiency and strengthen family functioning in our community.
